Implementation guidelines
Images
Alt-text- Add clear, concise alt-text to every image.
- If an image contains text, include all of that text in the alt-text.
Videos
Closed captions- Any video with speech, sound effects, or music needs closed captions. If the platform doesn’t support toggleable captions, burn them in.
- For burned-in (“open”) captions: large sans-serif font, opaque background, and at least 7:1 contrast between text and background.
- Use proper sentence case.
- Do not rely on auto-generated captions. Validate before posting.
Audio description
- Any video with visual action not covered by narration needs audio description — either inline or via a linked audio-described version.
- Use simple, concise, natural-language sentences.
- Identify the speaker and the location or scene.
- Validate before posting.
Photosensitivity
- Videos should be free of flickering, rapid flashes, red flashes, and alternating patterns of contrasting colors.
- Avoid stripes of contrasting colors.

Accommodations- Ahead of the event, describe accommodations that will be available: sign-language interpretation, closed captions, audio descriptions, sensory processing aids, quiet rooms, and more.
