The Gaming and Disability Player Experience Guide (GADPEG) is a supplemental resource to the XBOX Accessibility Guidelines. Where the XAGs are organized by game area (text display, contrast, subtitles, input, and so on), GADPEG is organized by type of disability. It walks through the barriers players commonly encounter, describes typical assistive technologies, and points to the XAG best practices that address each barrier.

Who should read it

  • Design leads and UX starting a new project — brief the team on player experience before scoping features.
  • Producers — use it to plan when in production to schedule XAG work.
  • Engineers and QA — use it as background for the concrete XAG implementation guidelines.

What’s inside

  • Motor disabilities
  • Vision disabilities
  • Hearing disabilities
  • Cognitive disabilities
  • Speech disabilities
Each section covers common barriers, assistive technology, and cross-links to the specific XAGs that address them.
