For late-stage or shipped titles, XBOX Certification can produce a Sustainability Power Report measuring your title’s power draw across common in-game areas — menus, loading screens, lobbies, cutscenes, active gameplay, constrained state, and multiplayer. The report is the fastest way to identify which parts of your title deviate from the Lab platform baselines.

How to request a report

1

Contact your Microsoft representative

Reach out to your Microsoft point of contact, or email XboxSustainability@Microsoft.com.
2

Provide the title, sandbox, and scenarios

Share the target sandbox and the specific scenarios you want measured. Common asks: main menu, matchmaking lobby, single-player campaign, multiplayer gameplay, pause menu, constrained state.
3

Certification runs the standardized test

Certification runs your title against standardized test rigs and instrumentation. See Sustainability PIX guide for the exact PIX configuration used.
4

Review the per-scenario breakdown

You receive a per-scenario breakdown of power draw with platform-average comparisons.
5

Prioritize with Power Monitor

Use the report to prioritize where local Power Monitor profiling will find the biggest wins.
Reports are available pre-release (for unreleased titles approaching cert) and post-release (for shipped titles considering updates).

What a report includes

Each scenario is captured on XBOX Series X and XBOX Series S with:
  • Title average — your title’s average Power Load % in that scenario.
  • Industry average — the Lab platform baseline average for the same scenario.
  • Wattage — approximate wall-socket wattage.
  • Deltas — where you’re above or below the industry average.
For an example of a real report used to guide production decisions, see the Gears of War: Reloaded case study.

Lab vs. global platform baselines

Two baselines inform your reports:
  • Lab baseline — controlled measurement on standardized hardware in a normalized environment. Best for comparing your title to others.
  • Global platform baseline — aggregated real-world telemetry from shipping titles. Best for understanding how your title actually behaves at scale.
The Partner Center sustainability dashboard surfaces global telemetry once your title is live; cert reports use lab measurement.

Real examples using cert reports

Cert reports have driven the optimizations in multiple shipping titles:
  • The Elder Scrolls Online — cert report flagged a ~30 W jump in menus, leading to the 30 FPS menu cap.
  • Star Wars Outlaws — cert report showed the pause menu at ~75% Power Load vs. an industry average of 55–60%, leading to the 1 FPS pause behavior.
  • Gears of War: Reloaded — cert measured every mode × area combination to publish comparative data.
