Screen-capture tool (wdcapture.exe) - XBOX Game Development Documentation

Use this tool to capture a screenshot or a video clip of anything that currently appears on the console’s output.

You can also use the XBOX Manager tool to capture screenshots.

Command	Description
screenshot	Takes a screenshot and saves it in the PNG (SDR) file format or the JXR (HDR) file format
video	Records the last several seconds of video in the MP4 file format

wdcapture screenshot

Takes a screenshot and saves it in the PNG (SDR) file format or the JXR (HDR) file format. If an HDR screenshot is requested but the console isn’t in HDR mode, the screenshot fails. If game-screen only is specified, the resulting screenshot mimics a retail screenshot. wdcapture screenshot [<filename>] [hdr] [gameScreenOnly]

Option	Description
`filename`	The name of the output file
`hdr`	Specifies that the screenshot should be saved in the HDR file format
`gameScreenOnly`	Mimics a retail screenshot

wdcapture video

Records the last several seconds of video in the MP4 file format. The duration must be specified and must be between 6 and 300 seconds. wdcapture video <duration> [<filename>]

Option	Description
`duration`	The duration in seconds of the video clip
`filename`	The name of the output file
