GDK Tools include GDK development tools such as XBOX Manager, PIX, and the command-line tools. GDK Tools don’t include build tools such as the compiler and linker. They are available in Visual Studio.

The version of GDK Tools must be the same as, or later than that of the currently installed GDKs.The recovery version of your Development Kit must be later than or the same as the GDK Tools version that you’re using. This in turn must be later than or the same as the GDK version (headers, libs, gameos.xvd ) that you’re using.
Separate GDK Tools installation
Install GDK Tools independently of a GDK installation, then use the GDK tools (such as XBOX Manager) on development PCs that don’t have a GDK installed on them.The tools from the GDK overwrite the version of the tools installed by GDK Tools only if the GDK is an earlier version than the installed GDK Tools. If the GDK is a later version, it skips installing the tools because there’s already a newer version present.
