# XBOX Game View

> XBOX Game View

This topic describes the XBOX Game View tool window, which the Microsoft Game Development Kit (GDK) installs into the Visual Studio shell. XBOX Game View displays a video stream of the game that's currently running on the console and that appears selected in [XBOX Gaming Explorer](/tools/tools-console/visualstudio/xbox-gaming-explorer).

By default, XBOX Game View becomes visible whenever the debugger starts from within Visual Studio. The following screenshot shows XBOX Game View docked when the debugger is running.

If you don't want **XBOX Game View** to appear when the debugger starts, close the view while in a debug session. The view will no longer appear automatically the next time you start the debugger.

To show the view while not debugging, or to restore it if you've removed it from a debug session, select the **XBOX Game View** menu item from the **XBOX Extensions** menu, as shown in the following screenshot.

XBOX Game View is a read-only view that you can use as a debugging aid. If you need to interact with the console from your desktop (development) PC, use the [Remote Control feature in XBOX Manager](/tools/tools-console/xbom/manager-tool-gamepad-input). XBOX Game View provides a context menu for opening XBOX Manager, as shown in the following screenshot.
