# How to set age ratings manually

> Manually configure age ratings in Partner Center for games distributed on physical discs or when using ratings obtained directly from a board.

## Submitting the ratings received from the ratings board: Required for games distributed on physical media (discs)

    If your account has appropriate permissions, you'll see the following additional question after completing the [International Age Ratings Coalition (IARC)](https://www.globalratings.com/) questionnaire: **Will this game use ratings obtained directly from a ratings board, and/or will it be distributed on physical media in any region?**

    1. You must answer **Yes** if you'll be distributing the product on physical media (discs), on Microsoft platforms, in one or more markets or if you've received a rating certificate directly from a ratings board. Answer **No** if you'll only be releasing digitally and using IARC ratings.

    1. Select the dropdown list next to the name of the ratings board, and then select the rating you've received from that board. In addition, select any applicable **Disclaimers** and **Descriptors**.

    Upload the PDF certificates you've received from the ratings boards, and then enter the certificate IDs, if available. If you don't have a certificate ID, enter **N/A**.

    1. If your game is distributed on physical media but you haven't yet received its ratings from a ratings board, select **Rating pending** if applicable for that board and permitted by [XR-017: Title ratings](/publishing/certification/xr/xr-017). This will ensure that an incorrect rating isn't applied to your product. You can update the rating later, after you receive it.

    1. Based on your selections, Microsoft will display all ratings for your product. The ratings you submit will take precedence over the ratings generated from your answers to the IARC questionnaire.
