# PAGE 111 · Accessible transportation for gaming events

> Offer accessible transportation to gaming events with PAGE 111 guidance on ADA parking, mass transit, paratransit, and on-site conveyance for attendees.

Getting to an event can be particularly challenging for people with disabilities. Transportation options that work for able-bodied guests don't always work for the disability community. Provide multiple accessible ways to reach your event.

## Scoping questions

This guideline applies if you answer **yes** to:

* Must attendees travel to a physical location for your event?

## Implementation guidelines

### Parking

**Location**

* Choose a location with parking nearby — guests shouldn't have to travel long distances from their cars to the entrance.
* The path from parking should be unobstructed, flat or with ADA-compliant ramps, and well lit.

**Quantity**

* Rule of thumb: at least twice the ADA parking stalls as the number of registered guests who requested them.

### Mass transit

**Location**

* Choose a venue close to an accessible bus or rail stop.
* Publish accessible routes and entrances on your registration site.

**Times**

* Ensure transit runs to align with event start and end times.
* Ensure transit runs regularly during the event in case someone needs to leave unexpectedly.

### Paratransit

**Offerings**

* Some transit systems offer paratransit for people who can't use regular services. Check whether it's available to your venue and publish that information on your registration site.
* Consider covering the cost of private paratransit for guests who require it — especially when those guests are providing a service (participating in on-site user research, giving a presentation, and so on).

### At-event travel

**Accessible conveyance**

* If the event requires transportation between buildings or areas, verify with your transit provider that services are accessible and plentiful enough for every guest who registered with an accommodation.
