# Gaming Accessibility Fundamentals learning path

> Take the free Gaming Accessibility Fundamentals learning path on Microsoft Learn: five modules and a virtual badge covering game accessibility basics.

The [**Gaming Accessibility Fundamentals learning path**](https://learn.microsoft.com/training/paths/gaming-accessibility-fundamentals/) is a free course on Microsoft Learn that establishes a common foundation of game-accessibility knowledge.

Learners who complete the path receive a shareable virtual badge that certifies completion.

## Who it's for

Anyone in gaming looking to learn the basics of game accessibility for the first time, or solidify what they already know — designers, producers, engineers, QA, marketing, and community teams alike.

## The five modules

    A basic understanding of how gameplay is assessed through the lens of accessibility. Outlines standard game elements and mechanics that commonly pose barriers to players with disabilities, and the impact those barriers have.

  <Step title="Disability Community Collaboration for Accessible Design">
    "Nothing about us without us." How to involve the Gaming and Disability Community throughout development, how to connect with them, and best practices for collaborative sessions.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Gaming Assistive Technologies">
    Common hardware and software assistive technologies that players use. Approaches for supporting existing AT or providing novel in-game tools when it isn't practical to integrate directly.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Accessibility Best Practices for Games and Platforms">
    A summary of the guidance in the XBOX Accessibility Guidelines, how each XAG is structured, and how to navigate the XAGs to find guidance for your specific game features.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Accessibility Best Practices for Gaming Hardware">
    For hardware and peripheral developers — design approaches for bespoke accessibility products (like the [XBOX Adaptive Controller](/build/game-principles/accessibility/accessibility-resources#xbox-adaptive-controller-xac)) as well as for standard controllers, consoles, headsets, and packaging.
